Save Kumwenda holds a PhD in Public Health and a Master of Public Health from the University of Malawi, College of Medicine (now Kamuzu University of Health Sciences). Currently, he is the Head of Public and Environmental Health Sciences Department and Associate Professor in Environmental Health at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS).

With a career spanning two decades, Dr. Kumwenda has held various academic and administrative roles, including Managing Editor of the Malawi Journal of Applied Sciences and Innovations and Deputy Head of Department.

His research expertise covers water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), food safety, environmental health, and infectious diseases, leading to peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He has been awarded some grants for projects on safe water, sanitation, hygiene and vaccine monitoring. In addition, Dr. Kumwenda is actively involved in facilitating workshops on research, manuscript writing, and public health, contributing to capacity-building initiatives. He has done various consultancies in the field of Environmental Health in Malawi.
