The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) continues to strengthen its research profile as Dr Kondwani Chidziwisano, Lecturer in Public and Environmental Health and Research Fellow at the WASHTED Centre, has been selected to receive the Discovery Research Support Hub (DRSH) Fellowship Catalyst Award.
The Fellowship Catalyst Award is designed to help promising early-career researchers prepare competitive applications for major research fellowships. Through the programme, recipients receive dedicated research time, mentorship from experienced researchers, specialised training, and personalised support to enhance their research leadership and funding competitiveness.
Dr Chidziwisano’s research focuses on understanding how inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) conditions influence food hygiene, mental health, child health, and health-related behaviours in low- and middle-income countries. His work aims to generate evidence that informs practical solutions for improving public health and wellbeing.
The award represents an important milestone not only for Dr Chidziwisano but also for MUBAS, demonstrating the University’s growing capacity to produce researchers who are competitive for internationally recognised research development programmes. It also reflects the value of investing in researcher development and creating pathways for academics to become independent research leaders.
