On 27 January 2026, the MUBAS Research Ethics Committee (MUBASREC) held an orientation session for its newly appointed members.
This session was convened to strengthen committee representation across all five schools and to fill gaps created by members taking on other responsibilities. With these appointments, the REC is now fully constituted and interdisciplinary, ensuring broad expertise and balanced perspectives in its work.
During the orientation, members engaged with:
- An overview of the MUBASREC mandate and structure
- Key ethical principles and the regulatory framework guiding research ethics
- Practical processes for reviewing research protocols
By aligning on these foundations, members are well-prepared to uphold ethical standards and safeguard research integrity. The committee’s interdisciplinary composition ensures that research from every school at MUBAS benefits from rigorous, objective review by experts in relevant fields.
With this orientation complete, the REC is ready to collectively support ethical, responsible, and high-quality research across the institution.
